Rajbiraj Municipality today decided to close community schools for a month in the municipal areas due to the soaring temperature in Saptari.

After many students in the school started falling sick due to excessive heat, the education department of the municipality decided to close the schools for a month through a notice. The heat was almost unbearable for students and it started taking a toll on them, the notice reads.

Chief at Education Department in Rajbiraj Municipality Bhagawati Bishwokarma said classes would resume from August 14. There are 43 community schools, including five secondary schools, twelve lower secondary and 26 primary schools in the municipal area.

He said that the municipality had decided to close the schools after holding discussion with stakeholders. Parents and guardians said small kids were facing a lot of health issues due to the rising temperature. They said the municipality's decision was wise considering the health of the children. Life has badly been affected in the district due to excessive heat for over a week.
