Govt docs to be brought under central government

Kathmandu, April 29

Preparations are under way to mobilise government doctors through the federal government in a bid to address the demands put forth by Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal.

President of Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal Dr Dipendra Pandey informed that 125 vacant posts had been created under the Ministry of Health and Population.

“The government has proposed to appoint 125 specialist doctors, who will be appointed by the central government,” he said, adding that they were hopeful the government would fulfil their demands.

There are 110 specialist government doctors associated with GODAN.

Of the 125 vacant posts, seven posts are for specialist doctors of 11th level, 80 posts for 9th and 10th levels and 40 posts for the 8th level.

On April 13, GODAN and the Ministry of Health and Population had reached agreement to create a pool of vacant posts for doctors. The ministry had demanded 15 days for preparations to fulfil the demands of doctors.
