BAJURA, JANUARY 24

Incessant snowfall has badly affected life in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces.

Life has been adversely affected due to the snowfall since yesterday. Vehicular and people's movement in the area has been affected with transport service cut off due to heavy snow fall. According to District Administration Office, Bajura, life in Martadi of Bajura and Simikot of Humla, among other places, has badly been affected.

The administration office added that excessive cold had also affected services provided by the office. Regular flights from Nepalgunj to Bajura, Humla, Dolpa and Mugu, among other places, were also halted. According to Civil Aviation Authority, Nepalgunj, more than 30 to 40 flights have been affected due to the weather.

Ramesh Bhandari, a passenger from Tajakot Rural Municipality, Humla, said he has been going to the airport daily, but in has not been able to board a flight. "There is no guarantee how long he I will have to stay in Nepalgunj," he added. Similarly, roads in the mountain and hilly areas were also obstructed.

Dawa Gurung, a local of Budhinanda Municipality said that the Martadi-Kolti road section was obstructed for the last two days. Telecommunication service has also been obstructed in the four local levels of Humla and Mugu.

Telecommunication towers have become dysfunctional as the solar panels have not been able to generate power.
