KATHMANDU, JUNE 17
A newly constructed classroom building at Shree Rastriya Basic School in Dhanusha District, Madhesh Province, was inaugurated on Monday under Japan's Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects.
The ceremony was attended by Tamura Takahiro, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal.
The classroom building is part of a three-year initiative being implemented by Plan International Japan, now in its second year. The project aims to improve access to quality education and promote a gender-responsive and inclusive learning environment at the basic education level in Dhanusha. It includes infrastructure development, teacher training, and community-led education efforts, along with gender mainstreaming in education policy, according to the press release issued by the Japan Embassy in Kathmandu.
Speaking at the event, Tamura praised the collaborative efforts behind the project and expressed hope that the facilities would be well maintained. He said the initiative would help create a more comfortable and inclusive learning environment in the district. He also encouraged students to contribute to Nepal's development and strengthen Nepal-Japan people-to-people relations in the future.
