Leftist unification, after formation of new govt: Leader Pandit
KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML leader Lal Babu Pandit has said that KP Sharma Oli is likely to be Chairman of newly merged leftist parties and Prime Minister of the nation.
Speaking at an interaction progarmme organised in the Capital on Tuesday, Parliamentarian Pandit urged the government to withdraw the National Assembly Election Ordinance submitted to the President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
He also said that the ordinance should be reviewed and resubmitted to the head of the state.
"Ordinance would be endorsed, but it should be revised, the incumbent government should withdraw and resubmit it after forging consensus with major parties," Pandit added.
He also urged the ruling party Nepali Congress to handover the state power to the newly elected government at the earliest.
Pandit, who defeated NC Shekhar Koirala for the House of Representatives election urged the commoners not to harbor any doubts on the leftist parties unification.
People have put faith in the leftist alliance and given mandate for the establishing political stability in the nation.
"It's high time that we repay their faith with good governance, development and economic prosperity in the country," UML Leader Pandit stressed.
Pandit reiterated that the leftist parties would unite only after the formation of the new government.
"KP Sharma Oli is poised to be the next Prime Minister of Nepal. He would lead the nation for next five years. Oli will be the party chairman and most likely would lead the government as we are still holding consultations for the same. There won't be change in guard, ruling the government turn by turn," Pandit shared.
He also shared that CPN-Maoist Chariman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal are front runners for the chairperson of the new party.
"Yesterday, we made special provisions for electoral alliance. Now, discussions are underway with special provisions for unification, all leaders would be adjusted accordingly," former General Administration Minister Pandit shared.
It has been learned that the talks are underway for the leftist parties unification.
