Makes counter-allegations against Oli

KATHMANDU, MARCH 25

Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today accused party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of violating party norms and rules.

Submitting an explanation on the charge of anti-party activities levelled against him by the establishment faction of the ruling party, Nepal said Oli had amended the party statute illegally, promoted factionalism in the party, conspired against the party, arbitrarily formed and reshuffled party committees, and acted against the interests of the country.

He said rather than seeking an explanation from him, Oli should be the one furnishing a clarification.

The establishment faction had sought an explanation from Nepal and three other leaders of his faction - Surendra Prasad Pandey, Bhim Bahadur Rawal, and Ghanashyam Bhusal - within three days for anti-party activities and carrying out factional meetings.

Nepal claimed that Oli did not have the power to seek a clarification from him. He reminded the PM that the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had removed Oli as cochair of the party and elected him (Nepal) as the new party co-chair.

He said Oli had acted against the mandate of the party's ninth convention and was liable for punitive action, as per the party's statute.

Nepal also accused Oli of violating a power sharing deal with CPN-MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
