KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 30
The District Administration Office (DAO), Sindhuli has announced a restriction on vehicular movement along the BP Highway and Mid-Hill Highway at night due to increased risk of floods and landslides amid continuous rainfall.
According to the notice, vehicles traveling toward Kathmandu from Khurkot Bazar on the BP Highway will be prohibited from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on October 30 and 31. The district is considered at high risk for floods and landslides during this period, the notice stated.
The DAO urged all motorists to avoid travel during rainfall, especially at night, except in emergencies.
Assistant Chief District Officer Anuj Bhandari added that vehicles may be halted at any location during the daytime if heavy rains occur.
The restriction has been imposed to prevent accidents, property damage, and loss of life amid the ongoing rains and potential natural hazards, the DAO said.
