KATHMANDU, AUGUST 11
Legendary climber Nima Gyalzen Sherpa completed all 14 peaks above 8,000m when a Taiwanese woman climber, along with Sherpa, successfully scaled Gasherbrum I in Pakistan this morning.
According to Dolma Outdoor, Nima Gyalzen Sherpa along with Tseng Ko-Erh aka Grace Tseng and Ningma Dorje Tamang stood atop G-I at around 9:00am local time.
Founder of Dolma Outdoor Nima Gyalzen has now become the sixth Nepali climber to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000m after successfully scaling G-I without using supplemental oxygen this morning, according to Dawa Sherpa, Managing Director at Dolma Outdoor.
Grace Tseng, 29 also completed her 12th 8000er after she scaled G-I, he said. She created history by completing four peaks above 8,000m, all without using supplemental oxygen, in just 22 days.
Becoming the first Taiwanese to scale K2, Grace is also on a mission to complete all 14 peaks at the youngest age. She has mounted all five peaks in Pakistan in just 42 days, according to Sherpa.
Pemba Sherpa, Managing Director at 8K Expedition, said that Norwegian woman climber Kristin Harila along with Pasdawa Sherpa and Dawa Ongju Sherpa also scaled G-I this morning.The trio completed their 11th 8,000er, Sherpa said.
Pasdawa, Kristin and Dawa Ongju are on a mission to complete all 14 peaks within six months aiming to break a world record set by Nirmal Purja aka Nimsdai. They have already set multiple records completing all 11 peaks in just 106 days, according to Sherpa.
