Nine families displaced
Lamjung, August 25:
A landslide triggered by heavy rains displaced nine households in Phaleni VDC in Lamjung.
According to the locals, families of Aasharam Gurung, Bagan Singh Gurung, Kami Gurung, Bhun Bahadur Gurung and Siplal Gurung of Selange in Phaleni VDC-9 were displaced due to the fear of their houses being swept away by a nearby landslide.
The landslide swept away the houses of Lalmaya Gurung, Udiram Gurung and Bel Bahadur Gurung in Wards No 8 and 5, forcing the members of the families to live in cowsheds. The displaced families are taking shelter in their relatives’ houses in Lapsibot.
Another landslide in Upper Dailung of Ward No 7 damaged the house of Dunde Kami, displacing eight family members. Houses of Parda Singh Gurung and Jaman Singh Gurung have developed cracks due to another landslide. Landslides have put a total of 90 households in peril.
