Looters arrested
BIRGUNJ: Police on Friday arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in looting about Rs 300,000 from the Birgunj branch of the Agriculture Development Bank. Mastermind of the gang Panna Lal Das, a peon at the bank, and three others were arrested, SP Yogeshwor Romkhami said. Others arrested are Gaurishanker Patel, 20, a former cop Binod Shah, 22, and Shatrughna Das, 19, of Tajpur-2. — HNS
1,050 eggs thrown
BARA: White chicken eggs that were illegally imported from India were thrown in a ditch in Kalaiya on Friday. The eggs were seized from Kalaiya bazaar and were thrown after the outbreak of bird flu in India. Altogether 1,050 eggs were thrown in the presence of Dr Hareram Yadav at District Livestock Office and chairman of Bara Chambers of Commerce and Industries Shivnath Sharma. — HNS

KATMANDU: Newly appointed Secretary General of the SAARC, Dr Sheel Kanta Sharma, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Sahana Pradhan at the latter’s office on Friday.
