KATHMANDU, JULY 20

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the public to avoid long-distance travel unless absolutely necessary and to stay in safe locations, citing forecasts of heavy rainfall across various parts of the country, on Sunday afternoon.

In a Facebook post on Saturday morning, Prime Minister Oli called for public caution and preparedness against possible weather-related disasters. Sharing the weather bulletin issued by the Department, he emphasized the importance of following alerts issued by security agencies.

In his post, he wrote, "Good morning! The Department of Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of the country this afternoon. Let us follow the alerts issued by security agencies to stay safe from weather-related disasters. I urge everyone to avoid long journeys unless absolutely necessary and to stay in safe places."

He also directed security personnel to remain alert and ready for emergency response.

The Prime Minister's message comes as several provinces brace for intense monsoon activity, and authorities warn of potential risks such as floods and landslides.
