Quake-devastated school reconstructed

Local villagers have materialised their bid to reconstruct Muktimarga Secondary School based in Ghar, Annapurna Rural Municipality.

The folks raised a fund amounting to Rs 5 million to rebuild the school, which was in a shambles following the 25 April 2015 earthquake. A single family had donated more than Rs 3 million for the same. The family of Tika Bahadur Khadka, a local, extended financial support over Rs 3 million to rebuild the 12-room school building, said acting Chairperson of Muktimarga School Management Committee Ram Bahadur Khadka.

The rural municipality had also aided Rs 1 million and Krishna Prasad Baruwal Rs 250,000 to that end.

Ward Chairperson Krishna Prasad Baruwal informed the public about the construction of additional four rooms in the building with the accumulated donation.

Likewise, Himalayan Friendship, an organisation based in Germany, had extended financial aid of Rs 1.67 million to serve the same purpose at the initiative of the school’s ex-student, Prashant Mohan Regmi.

Among several local donors, Dadilal Khadka, a local, currently residing in Japan, donated Rs 51,000 and Narayan Khadka from Belgium handed Rs 45,000.

As many as 322 students are pursuing their education in the school up to grade XII, school principal Mekh Bahadur Khadka informed.
