Redraft statute, says Yadav

Jhapa, July 28

Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav today said the statute should be redrafted to assure all Nepalis ownership of the constitution.

Speaking to mediapersons at Birtamode of Jhapa today, Yadav said that the constitution would not be acceptable to them if the first draft was brought to the people as final copy. He demanded that the constitution guarantee federalism with autonomous pradesh, identity, inclusion, republicanism, secularism and elimination of discriminations of all kinds in the constitution.

“As the draft constitution is against the spirit of past agreements, Constituent Assembly, secularism, and it is regressive and goes against expectation of the people’s uprising of 2006, it must be changed,” demanded Yadav. He also added that the statute must be announced from the CA, not by the leaders of a few parties, who are vying for the top positions for prime minister and president.
