SIRAHA, DECEMBER 13
A woman died after three to four youths attacked her with a sharp weapon in the forest of Karjanha Municipality in Siraha today.
The deceased has been identified as Laxminiya Kaparjainikai, 30, of Mirchaiya Municipality. The youths attacked her while she was heading towards the forest to collect firewood.
Police said the youths followed the woman and tried to rape her on the way, and added that the youths stabbed the woman in the stomach and neck with a sharp weapon and killed her.
The other women informed police after they saw the body. The locals filed an FIR as per the information given by the women.
Irate locals obstructed the East- West Highway in Mirchaiya Municipality after police did not file the FIR saying that it would be filed after investigation. The locals burnt tyres and obstructed the road demanding that the culprit be arrested and action taken against them.
The local administration had not been able to open the road till the time this report was prepared.
Thousands of people were stranded due to road obstruction. The body is still at the incident site. Locals said they would receive the body only after police arrested the culprit(s).
