KATHMANDU: At least three cadres of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal are reported to have been injured in a police firing at Parasi in Nawalparasi district on Saturday.

The injured have  been identified as Narsing Chaudhary (50), Suresh Gupta (27) and Bhagawant Gupta ( 40) of then Jamuniya, Gerami and Narsahi VDCs in Nawalparasi district. RJP-N leader Manish Kumar Suman informed THT Online over the phone that they have been undergoing treatment at Bhairahawa Medical College.

Suman also informed that  RJP-N Chairperson Mahanta Thakur was addressing a protest programme organised at Buddha Chowk of the district headquarters by the party as an ongoing June 28 poll protest programme when clashes erupted between the cadres of the party and police.

RJP-N cadres clashed with police  when the latter interfered with the former's attempt to burn T-shirts bearing the logo of the CPN-UML placed at the counter of Madhya Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Committee, nearby the programme venue, according to THT Online reporter Shree Ram Sigdel.

As police tried to thwart the cadres' attempt, further confrontation resulted in police firing of around  three rounds of rubber bullet and nearly half a dozen teargas shells to take the situation under control.

However, Suman claimed that police fired bullets without warning the cadres, accusing police of  carrying out a premeditated action of disrupting the protest programme.
