"He started the climb from the Base Camp at 4:30pm on 27th July-2022 and reached the summit on 28th July 2022 at 4:50:23 am," Sherpa told THT from the K2 base camp.

According to him, the starting point of speed attempt on K2 was 35° 50' 6" N, 76° 30' 32" E and elevation was 4991m.

Four climbers - Tsering, Mingma David Sherpa, Lakpa Dendi Sherpa and Benjamin Vedrines from France - were in a race to set a speed climb record on K2 this season. "But, Tsering from Imagine Nepal Treks has smashed the record," sherpa added.

Other three climbers have not completed the climb yet, according to Sherpa.

Tsering, being a part of the expedition with Imagine Nepal in 2022, climbed Mt Dhaulagiri on April 9, Mt Kanchenjunga on May 7, Mt Everest in May 16, K2 on July 22 and July 28, Sherpa said. "It was his third summit on K2 including the first one in 2014," Sherpa said, adding that he would attempt to scale Nanga Parbat and Manaslu this year.

The fastest climb record on K2 is held by French alpinist Benoît Chamoux, who made the summit in 23 hours on May 7, 1986.
