CHITWAN:  Police have recently  arrested a couple on the charge of defrauding a woman in Chitwan district.

Police have arrested Kalpana Poudel (26) and her husband Indra Prasad Poudel (27) of Lwang VDC-4 of Kaski district.

According to the District Police Office Chief SP Deepak Thapa, the couple had defrauded Bimala Neupane of Sauraha, Ratnanagar Municipality-18 of Chitwan by misusing the social networking site Facebook.

The couple had received Rs 4.7 million from Neupane in past eight months.

Neupane was frequently requested to deposit the amount to the account of various people, police investigations revealed.

According to police, Neupane was called to deposit the amount for receiving a lottery stating that Rs five million should be deposited in the account to claim the lottery of Rs one million dollars.

The, the gullible victim deposited the amount in six instalments, according to police.
