Voting under the House of Representatives election is continuing peacefully at various polling centres across Rautahat district since early this morning.
Voters have been queuing up at polling stations since the early hours to exercise their franchise.
Security has been tightened at all polling centres in the district. Joint teams of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and election police have formed security cordons around polling sites, while special surveillance has been arranged at sensitive centres, according to the District Administration Office, Rautahat.
Authorities have mobilised the required manpower to ensure an orderly and smooth voting process. Arrangements have also been made to give priority to persons with disabilities and senior citizens while casting their votes.
Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal said that no untoward incidents have been reported so far and the voting process is proceeding peacefully. He expressed confidence that polling will conclude smoothly by evening, citing enthusiastic participation from voters.
Meanwhile, CPN co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal cast his vote this morning at the Ramjanaki Kanya Basic School polling centre in Gaur Municipality–2 under Rautahat Constituency No. 1.
Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Anil Kumar Jha cast his vote at the Sanskrit Secondary School polling centre in Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality–3, while Aam Janata Party chair Prabhu Sah exercised his franchise at a polling centre in Maulapur Municipality–5.
