Water woes end for Dhading denizens

With the completion of a drinking water project in Karang,122 households in Siddhalekh Rural Municipality, Dhading, have finally got rid of prolonged drinking water crisis.
Locals of Belghari, Jhagare, Kamrang, Katledanda, Dandatole and Aadamara in the rural municipality heaved a sigh a relief after Kamrang Deep Boring Drinking Water Project was brought into operation. The rural municipality is one of the dry areas in the district.
Drinking water will also be supplied to a school and a mothers’ group. Regular supply of drinking water will begin once taps are installed at consumers’ houses.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Law Shalik Ram Jamkattel of Province 3 inaugurated the project yesterday. A non-government organisation Focus Nepal in coordination with Siddhalekh Rural Municipality and Oxfam constructed the project. Minister Jamkattel said pure drinking water was a basic requirement for citizens. He said the provincial government was committed to providing drinking water to every household of the province. Meanwhile, Minister Jamkattel also said the provincial governments and local levels had to play an important role to realise the vision of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
The deep boring drinking water project was completed at a cost of Rs 8,770,544. Of the total amount, the rural municipality had contributed Rs 3,010,000, Oxfam and Focal Nepal jointly provided Rs 3,977,736 and people donated labour worth Rs 1,782,800. Consumer Committee Chair Man Bahadur Ghale said water would be distributed through 3,930 distribution lines from a 50,000-litre water tank.
