GAUSHALA: A woman reportedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire after sprinkling kerosene over herself at Sikwakataiya in Mahottari district on Tuesday.

Shiva Kumari Devi (22) set herself on fire after locking herself in her bedroom at around 9 am today, police said.

The house was also reduced to ashes due to the fire, police informed.

SP Janak Bhattarai said that although the fire was doused later the woman could not be saved.

Reason behind the suicide is yet to be established, according to him.

Devi is survived by two daughters and husband, who is currently abroad for employment.

Police said that they are looking into the case.
