The body of a woman was found half-charred in Sundar Sah's field at Motipur village, Yamunamai Rural Municipality, Rautahat, on Thursday.
The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The woman is approximately in her mid-twenties.
Police suspect the woman might have been murdered and her body burnt to destroy evidence.
"We are trying to nab the guilty with the help of a sniffer dog," said DSP Bharat Shrestha. Her leg had been cut, the body half-charred and a new pair of slippers was recovered from the incident site.
