monsoon Delicacies

KATHMANDU: It seems Hotel Radisson has vowed to pamper foodies of the Valley with their on going food promotions. Keeping up with their effort of providing delicious surprises time and again they have yet again come up with their brand new promotion apt to the weather. The Fun Café of the hotel is hosting a Monsoon Fiesta which will provide hot and spicy dishes to tantalise the taste buds of their valued customers. The exclusive monsoon buffet offers mouth watering Indian cuisines.

Once you enter the Fun Cafe you cannot escape the feel of monsoon. The artificial lightning and thunderstorms will make it seemslike it is raining outside. “We are trying to bring rain in Kathmandu. To make it go perfectly with our theme we have added the special effects,” says Rojin Sapkota, F&B Executive. Lights have been been dimmed and there are colourful umbrellas hanging everywhere.

Talking about the chosen cuisine Chef Bijay Lama explains, “Rainy season makes you tired and what is better than hot and spicy food to get you all perked up. So Indian cuisine was our obvious choice as it is perfect for the season.” And its not just the Indian and Nepali guests who are relishing the scrumptious Indian dishes but the foreigners love it too. According to Sapkota one of their in-house guests was so in love with the food she actually bought spicies to try cooking the dishes at home. The promotion that started from June 12 consists of three different menus, which will be shuffled every three days.

Before you start with the main course do not forget to try their live chaat counter to relish some popular Indian street foods like pani puri, dahi bhalla, papri chat and much more, the name itself is enough to make your mouth water. Start your meal with paya yakhni, soup made of mutton chunks and aromatic spices . Vegetarians do not need to fret as the promotion pays enough attention for those who love green. Their tomato dhania shorba with its hot and tangy taste is to die for. Biryanis and parathas go perfectly with side dishes like paneer mirch ka salan pasanda or the spicy aloo achari prepared using green mango to give the needed flavour.

Among the array of dishes do not forget to try their urad chana dal with hing, its something that will make you go for another bowl. After filling up with all dishes prepared using exotic Indian spices keep little place for jalebi and ras malai. If you love mango then do try the mango kulfi prepared using fresh mango, the sweet dish is to kill for.

The festival is on till June 27.
