KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 4

Anti-government protesters burned tires and obstructed the road during a general strike organised by Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), in Kathmandu, on Thursday.

Demonstrators belonging to the NCP splinter group were also seen stopping vehicles plying the roads.

People were seen walking, some carrying children while others their belongings, as the strike continued in the capital city. Meanwhile, the riot police were mobilised to maintain security.

Dahal-Nepal called for the general strike following the swearing in of constitutional bodies' appointees, bypassing parliamentary hearings, on Wednesday.
