Kathmandu, January 22

Deepak Adhikari and Fulmati Rana won the titles of the Right To Protein Race here at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.

Tribhuvan Army Club athlete Adhikari finished the men's section half marathon in one hour, five minutes and eight seconds, while his teammates Rajan Rokaya (1:05:14) and Narendra Singh Rawal (1:05:55) came second and third respectively.

Tirtha Pun (1:06:09) of Baglung and Sushil K Shahi (1:08:04) of TAC were fourth and fifth respectively.

Nepal APF Club athlete Rana won women's section race in 1:22:12, while Nepal Police Club's Rammaya Budha was second in 1:22:17. Purna Laxmi Neupane of TAC was third in 1:23:10, ahead of Kalpana Khadka (1:27:12) and Anju Khadka (1:32:13). Top five athletes in both categories received Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.

TAC athletes dominated the men's 10km race with Mukes Pal (30:56:01), Gajendra Rai (31:00:29) andSubash Karki (31:07:20) winning top three spots respectively.

Likewise, TAC athletes Gita BK (21:38:52) and Nirmala KC (22:08:22) finished first and second respectively in the women's 5km race, while APF's Sima Chaudhary was third in 22:28:13.

Also, Sanjiv Nepali (18:36:00), Shyam Mugrati (18:45:58) and Himraj Gurung (18:50:34) claimed top three positions in school boys' 5km race, while Kalpana Budha (18:15:22), Himali Shahi (18:35:73) and Dipshika Shahi (19:10:40) won the girls' 3km race.

Likewise, Prem Bahadur BK (13:59:04), Ramkaji Mijar (14:44:75) and Somnath Rai (15:24:93) finished first, second and third respectively in men's wheelchair race, while Rajani Rai (16:05:40), Yami Jhakri Magar (17:42:77) and Jenisa Kathayat (18:47:88) claimed top three positions respectively in women's section.

The top three winners in men's 10km race earned Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively, while the winners in 5km and wheelchair races got Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000. The top three athletes in girls' 3km event received Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

The second edition of the event, which was organised by the Nepal Veterinary Association, carried a cash purse of Rs 1.48 million.
