APF eliminate Tarun Sangh
Pokhara, February 26:
Armed Police Force (APF) Team advanced to the semi-final of the fifth Aaha Gold Cup football tournament with a 3-0 win over Tarun Sangh of Kolkata here at the Pokhara Stadium today.
Santosh Sahukhala, skipper Kumar Thapa and Sunil Subedi scored one goal each. Sahukhala gave APF the lead in the 12th minute when he converted a pass from Sunil Subedi.
Skipper Thapa scored on a rebound after Tarun Sangh goalkeeper Rana Chakrawarti blocked Durga Lawat’s strike in the 65th minute.
Subedi capitalised on a Chakrawarti’s keeping error to add the third in fourth minute of the second half injury time.
Chakrawarti spilled Raghu Prajapati’s attempt to let Subedi put the ball behind the bars. Guddy of Tarun Sangh won the man of the match award.
APF coach Dhruba KC was not satisfied with his players’ performance. “They were not up to their potential. Our strikers missed too many chances.”
Tarun Sangh coach Dinlal Dey said they were extremely poor today. “My players were even finding difficulty to control the ball,” said infuriated coach Dey.
Knight Chess Club of Jhapa will take on Nabil Three Star Club in the last quarter-final on Tuesday.
