LALITPUR, JANUARY 27

Biratnagar Metropolitan City thrashed Chandrapur Municipality 5-0 to register their first victory in the Women's National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Kusum Khadka scored a hat-trick, while Anu Rai and Sarita Sherpa netted one each for Biratnagar, who accumulated four points. Biratnagar had opened the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Waling Municipality before facing a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Nepal APF Club.

Chandrapur - who lost 6-0 against APF in the first match and bounced back to beat Chaudandigadhi Municipality 7-1 - have three points. Favourites Nepal APF Club are at the top of the seven-team table with maximum nine points after the completion of the third round, while fellow departmental side Nepal Police Club are at second position with five points, followed by Tribhuvan Army Football Club (four) and Biratnagar (four). Waling have earned two points from three matches, while Chaudandigadhi are yet to open their accounts.

On Wednesday, Kusum Khadka opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Anu Rai doubled the tally in the 32nd minute. Biratnagar added three goals in the space of seven minutes in the second half complete the rout. Sarita Sherpa made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute and Khadka completed her hat-trick with goals in the 69th and 70th minutes.

The fourth round will begin on Friday. Waling will face Chaudandigadhi, while APF and NPC will lock horns in the second match.
