KATHMANDU, JULY 3
Nepal has secured a spot in the final of the ACC Men's U-16 East Zone Cup after a dominant 9-wicket victory over Malaysia in the first semi-final held today at Selangor Turf Club, Malaysia.
Chasing a modest target of 91 runs, Nepal reached the total in just 11.4 overs, losing only one wicket. Parimarjan Yadav led the charge with an explosive 59 runs, hitting five boundaries and five sixes, while Shiwansh Bajgain remained unbeaten on 23. Malaysia's only breakthrough came from Nagin Sathnakumaran, who claimed a wicket.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, Malaysia was bowled out for 90 runs in 43.1 overs. Muhammad Fathul Fatri top-scored with 38 runs, while captain Deeaz Patro contributed 10. The rest of the batting lineup failed to reach double figures.
For Nepal, Abhay Yadav took four wickets, while Shubham Khanal claimed three. Captain Bipin Prasad Khanal and Sachin Bhatta picked up one wicket each.
With this win, Nepal will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Hong Kong and Singapore in the final. Nepal had earlier topped Group A with victories over Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, and Bhutan. Notably, Nepal is also the defending champion, having beaten Malaysia in last year's final.
