KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 28

Top Nepali golfer Sukra Bahadur Rai survived the cut despite posting a seven-over 151 after the second round of the Kapil Dev-Grant Thornton Invitational 2022 at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram today.

Rai, who played a round of three-over 75 to add to his overnight score of four-over 76, made it to the money-making final two rounds of the INR one crore event under the Professional Golf Tour of India. Despite playing a bad round, Rai moved eight places up to share the 47th position with eight other golfers.

Starting the second day from the 10th tee, Rai saved pars on all nine holes of his front nine to take the turn at even-par 36. On the day when he failed to card a single birdie, Rai suffered a double bogey seven on the fourth hole and dropped a shot on the seventh to finish the back nine at three-over 39.

Rai, who is playing in his first Professional Golf Tour of India, had made cut in just one event in the last four tournaments and the Dharan-based golfer has not been able to make it to top 20 in the 10 PGTI events so far. With total earning of INR 111,753 from four events, Rai is at the 83rd position in Order of Merit.

India's Kartik Sharma carded an impressive five-under 67 to move six places up to the top of the leaderboard with the 36- hole total of six-under 138, while Sachin Baisoya (68) and Manu Gandas (66) shared the second position at four-under 140. Overnight leader Dhruv Sheoran slipped down to tied fourth with fellow Indian golfers Syed Saqib Ahmed (67) and Himmat Singh Rai (70).
