KATHMANDU: The NGA-RNGC Youth Programme began at the Royal Nepal Golf Club here on Saturday.
A total of 45 participants including 10 girls are taking part in the weekly training programme. The aspiring golfers were divided into two groups with novice participants receiving basic knowledge of the sport in the first phase of training, informed Nepal Golf Association General Secretary CB Bhandari.
"To begin with, we will conduct training every Saturday. And we have plans to make it up to three times a week depending on the response of the participants and their availability," he added.
RNGC Head Pro Deepak Thapa Magar along with other pros Ram Thapa, Ramesh Nagarkoti, Rabi Khadka, Sanjay Lama, Sachin Bhattarai and Sanjok Moktan will conduct training. The NGA and RNGC had signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this month to organise free training for youth and women golfers. Earlier, Nepal No 1 amateur golfer Subash Tamang inaugurated the programme.
