Satdobato Youth Club earned promotion to top flight football after Shree Bhagwati Club stunned second-placed Khumaltar Youth Club 2-1 in the Martyrs Memorial B Division League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.
Unbeaten Satdobato, who were not in action today, have 25 points with two matches remaining and Khumaltar cannot overtake them even if they win their last game. Khumaltar have 22 points and they are behind Satdobato on head-to-head basis as well.
Satdobato earned their first promotion in A Division in 23 years. Established in 1998, Satdobato played C Division qualifier and other domestic tournaments for 12 years before getting into B Division. Satdobato had finished in top four in the previous two editions of the B division league.
In the 10th round match on Saturday, Khumaltar needed at least a draw to stay in contention and they made a bright start. Sabin KC put Khumaltar ahead in the 26th minute but Shree Bhagwati hit back to record a stunning victory. Dona Thapa scored the equaliser five minutes before the first half whistle, while Aashish Shrestha netted the winning goal in the 84th minute.
With the win, Shree Bhagwati climbed to seventh with 12 points.
In the day's another match, Divine Boys Union Club beat Tushal Youth Club 1-0 riding on solitary goal from Milan Limbu.
Boys Union are at the fourth position with 17 points from 10 matches, while Tushal remained at the 10th place with nine points in the 12-team competition.
