Biratnagar, April 16

Tribhuvan Army Club won the title of the first Richa Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Jute Mill grounds on Sunday.

TAC defeated home team NBCC by six wickets in the final and the departmental team received Rs 150,000 along with the trophy. NBCC earned Rs 75,000. Batting first, NBCC were bowled out for 110 runs in 17.2 overs, while TAC reached the target losing four wickets in just 11.3 overs.

Player-of-the-match Sandip Rajali top scored for TAC with 20-ball 46 with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. Wasir Ahmed scored run-aball 18, while Sumit Shrestha remained unbeaten on 13 off eight balls.

Earlier, Kumar Rajnis scored 50 off 33 balls hitting seven fours and two sixes for NBCC, while Anubhav Srivastav was the next best at 11. Bikram Sob was the pick of the TAC bowlers taking 3-22, while Hari Chauhan and Sumit Shrestha grabbed two each.

Saket Kedia of Delhi United was named the player of the series, while MB Group's Dipak Bohara was declared the best batsman and TAC's Jitendra Mukhiya won the best bowler's award.

A total of eight teams, including two from India, took part in the tournament organised by Eastern Region Cricket Academy. President of Cricket Association of Nepal Chatur Bahadur Chand, senior advisor Naresh Shrestha, Nepal Sports Federation Secretary Biplav Ghosh and Sunsari District Cricket Association President CP Poudel handed over the prizes to the winners.
