TAC win team c’ship
Kathmandu, September 18:
Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) won the team championship at the 21st National open Boxing Tournament organised by Nepal Boxing Association. In the women’s 57-kg final, Sanju Lama of Armed Police Force (APF) defeated Minas Rai of Mahendra Police Club (MPC) on points, while Surya Rana Magar of TAC outplayed Kheman Singh Rana of Nawalparasi in the men’s 48-kg final. Anil Prasad Dahal of APF defeated Dipendra Bijukshe of TAC in the 51-kg final, while Nim Bahadur Reule of MPC defeated Mahesh Rijal of Lalitpur in the 54-kg final.
Purna Bahadur Lama of APF won the men’s 57-kg section gold beating Ganesh Ram Chaudhary, whereas Dipendra Maharjan of APF defeated Ajit Gurung of Makawanpur in the 60-kg.
Anuradha Lama of MPC won the women’s 54-kg gold beating Bhagirath Bhatta of Kanchanpur on points, while Sushil of APF outclassed Bam Bahadur Bogati of Kailali in the men’s 64-kg final. Anil Gurung of TAC beat Ratna Bahadur Tamang of Nepal Youth Boxing Group (NYBG) to win the men’s 69-kg gold. Bikash Pariyar of TAC overwhelmed Rajan Silpakar in the men’s 75-kg final, while Bishnu Rizal, also of TAC, defeated Deepak Maharjan of NYBG to win the men’s 81-kg gold medal. Ram Baniya of Parsa defeated Arjun Bharati of Meghdoot Club to win
the men’s 91-kg gold, the only medal won by a player from outside the force. In all, 206 boxers including 174 men and 32 women from 44 clubs of 20 districts took part in the event.
