BUTWAL: Ruslan Three Star Club defeated Friends Club 4-3 on penalties and advanced to the semi-finals of the 20th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament at the ANFA Technical Centre grounds on Monday.

The match was decided in tie breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 2-2 in the regulation period of 90 minutes. Three Star’s Niraj Basnet, Nirajan Khadka, Buddha Chemjong and Bijay Dhimal converted their shots from the spot, while Rejin Dhimal failed to score.

Similarly, Kuldeep Karki, Jangbu Sherpa and Barsat Gurung scored for Friends, whereas Sylla and Saroj Yonjan wasted their shots.

Earlier, Jonal Glory put Friends ahead in the second minute before Ajayi Martins levelled the tally in the 23rd minute.

Susan Shrestha then put Three Star ahead in the 49th minute before Sylla scored for Friends in the 85th minute.
