KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 10

Top Nepali pro Sukra Bahadur Rai made a comeback to make the cut after the second round of the Tenlangana Golconda Masters - an event under the Professional Golf Tour of India - at the par-70 Hyderabad Golf Association course today.

Rai, who struggled to even-par 70 after dropping three shots in three holes in the opening round, carded three-under 67 to move 23 places up in the leaderboard. With 36-hole total of three-under 137, he shared the 26th position with seven Indian golfers - Amrit Lal (68), Naman Dawar (72), Smarth Dwivedi (70), Abhinav Lohan (65), Harendra Gupta (69) and Trishul Chinnappa (68) and Mansukh Sandhu (71).

The Dharan-based carded four-under 30 on the front nine and played one-over 37 on the latter half. He made a poor start with a bogey on the first hole before bouncing back strongly with five birdies on the second, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth holes.

After taking the turn, Rai dropped shots on the 12th and 13th before closing the day with a birdie on the final hole.

Indian pro Mani Gandas carded 10 birdies in his impressive bogey-free round to post a 36-hole total of 17-under 123 to move at the top of leaderboard. Gandas, who returned with a card of 10-under 60 to add to his overnight score of seven-under 63, opened up five-stroke lead over Angad Cheema (63) and amateur Milind Soni (65), who are tied for second at 12-under 128. Two other Indians, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu (65) and Yashas Chandra MS (65) shared fourth place at 129.

Former Surya Nepal Masters champion Shamim Khan produced a card of six-under 64 to earn a share of sixth pace with Syed Saqib Ahmed at 10-under 130. A total of 54 players made it to the money-making final two rounds after cut was applied at even-par 140. The event carries a cash purse of INR four million rupees.
