Khadgadevi Temple in Bandipur is a temple that is opened only once a year on the day of Phulpati during Dashain. The temple does not contain any goddesses but Khadga — a sacred sword that is always wrapped in a piece of cloth. The sword is worshipped as a symbol of female power, and hence the name — Khadgadevi is the ‘Goddess of the sword.’ It is believed that anyone beholding at the bared sword would invite instant death.
