Nepal confirmed 3,870 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing its total caseload to nearly 600,000. The countrywide total infection count has now reached 595,364.

According to the health ministry, 17,676 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 12,065 were PCR tests while 5,611 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,167,129 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Meanwhile, antigen tests have confirmed 1,283 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests add up to 5,153.

The country also reported the death of 108 more Covid-19 positive patients in the past 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 8,098.

After registering a record 9,238 cases on May 12, the daily Covid-19 count in Nepal has been on a constant decline.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbed to 84.7 % on Tuesday, as opposed to 84.2 % on Monday and the total number of recoveries in the country as of today is 504,530.

With 6, 570 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the country's active Covid-19 caseload has now dropped to 82,736.

In the same time frame, 836 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 269 and 121 cases respectively.

There are 747 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

So far, a total of 2,804,574 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 2,113,080 have received the first dose while only 691,494 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

On Monday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 591,494 with 3,370 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 174 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.7 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 157 million people have recovered while more than 12 million cases are still active.
