Nbcci 10th agm: Entrepreneur lauds role of ISF

Kathmandu, November 18:

Nepal Britain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NBCCI) held its tenth annual general meeting (AGM) in the capital today. British ambassador to Nepal, Keith G Bloomfield inaugurated the AGM. Speaking on the occasion, Rajendra Kumar Khetan, the incumbent president of NBCCI, highlighted the role of Industrial Security Force (ISF), formed under the leadership of British envoy. “The ISF has been able to raise concerns of the business community at all levels,” he said applauding the role it played in opening the forced-closure of the industries by the Maoists.

“NBCCI is working towards increasing trade, commerce and investment between Nepal and Britain. Improving socio-economic development of Nepal and bilateral relations is our primary agenda,” he added. Khetan said that peace and competitiveness are vital to face the challenges posed by the WTO, SAFTA and BIMEST-EC. Speaking at the AGM, the British envoy highlighted the cordial relationships between Nepal and Britain. He also commented on the present political and economic scenario of Nepal.

The AGM elected a new committee under Mahendra Kumar Shrestha. A G Sherpa, A K Sengupta, Anil Seth, Ganga Ram Shrestha, Rakesh Mohan, Ramesh P Shrestha and Sonny Shrestha are elected executive members. Mahendra K Shrestha, newly elected president, appealed all the members to contribute in achieving the goals of the chamber.
