KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 30
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the country's sole secondary market, surged on Thursday, gaining 34.22 points or 1.33 percent to close at 2,600.38 points.
The Sensitive Index, tracking class 'A' companies, rose 1.20 percent, while the Float Index, representing actively traded shares, advanced 1.35 percent, signaling broad-based buying across the market.
All sectoral indices ended in positive territory, except for the mutual fund sector, which declined 0.18 percent. Among the gainers, the hydropower sector recorded the highest growth at 2.67 percent, though no other sector gained more than 2 percent.
Market turnover jumped to Rs 7.513 billion, with 26,010,718 shares traded across 53,112 transactions from 319 listed companies.
In terms of individual stocks, 216 advanced, 28 declined, and five remained unchanged. Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (USLB) hit the upper circuit limit of 10 percent, emerging as the day's top gainers.
By the end of trading, NEPSE's total market capitalization reached Rs 4.347 trillion.
