Constitutional Bench to hear 11 cases on Friday

KATHMANDU, MAY 27

Supreme Court Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has assigned 19 writ petitions related to the dissolution of House of Representatives to his bench.

The Office of the President has been made defendant in all the petitions that will be heard by CJ Rana on Thursday.

CJ Rana will proceed with 19 of the 30 cases that had been filed demanding reinstatement of the House, today.

On Friday, eleven of the writs, including the one filed by majority of former lawmakers demanding House reinstatement as well as appointment of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the PM, will be granted session.

A five-member bench led by Rana will hear the 11 petitions registered in the constitutional bench.

The opposition alliance comprising 146 signatories, that had backed Deuba's candidacy for premiership, had jointly moved the Apex Court on Monday.
