KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 26

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has emphasized that political unity is key to navigating the current challenges.

"Coordination and cooperation among political parties, irrespective of their diverse ideologies, are vital to resolving the existing problems facing the country," Bhandari said during an interaction on the 'Aftermath of Gen-Z Protests,' held in the federal capital on Friday. The former Head of State stressed the need to lift the country out of its present difficulties.

Highlighting that citizens are the ultimate source of power in a country, she reminded that they should be made aware of whether political parties have acted in accordance with their philosophies, principles, and policies.

At the programme, CPN (UML) Vice Chair Yubaraj Gyawali seconded the former Head of State, stating that national unity is imperative at this critical time. He urged all political parties to actively participate in the upcoming elections.

A central member of the Nepali Congress, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, announced that his party would launch a campaign to ensure clean party organization.

Similarly, former Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kanth Uprety observed that adopting a fully proportional electoral system could help eliminate political bickering and ensure stability.

Tribhuvan University Rector Prof. Dr. Khadga KC remarked that this is the best time for political parties to engage in serious introspection.

Former Head of the National Investigation Department, Deviram Sharma, emphasized the need to boost police morale ahead of the elections. Journalist Kanak Mani Dixit stressed that conducting a fair investigation into the Gen-Z protests is essential to curb impunity.

Journalist Dev Prakash Tripathi noted that achieving an all-party consensus is the only viable option to provide a political outlet for the country.
