Murder accused soldier in NA custody

KATHMANDU: Nepali Army today took into custody Lal Bahadur Karki, a Gorakhnath Battalion soldier, on the charge of involvement in the murder of Apsara Regmi, a student of NR college.

Apsara's decomposed body was found in Chapali yesterday morning after days of missing. According to her family, Karki used to treat Apsara as a sister and had also received Bhaitika from her. They have blamed Karki for her murder. Issuing a press release, NA has confirmed action against Karki.

According to police, a suicide note and her college identity card found helped identify her body. The suicide note reads, "Respected mother, father, uncle and aunt, I could not achieve anything in life so I am committing suicide.' However, the Regmis do not believe that the note was written by her.

The NA has also arrested the soldier whose car knocked down Prem Narayan Paudel, a CPN-UML cadre, in Nepalgunj.
