KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 6

Senior journalist Rajan Pokhrel has been re-elected the president of the Nepal Forum of Science Journalists (NFSJ).

The Forum's tenth annual general meeting held in Kathmandu re-elected him to the post. Pokhrel, who is active in Nepali journalism for over two decades, is the Editor of The Himalayan Times, an English language national daily.

Pokhrel has served NFSJ as its president since 2022 launching different science and environment-related programmes to build the capacity of national and foreign journalists.

Similarly, Madhu Sudan Guragain is re-elected the vice-president, Rohan Shrestha the secretary and Aruna Joshi the treasurer, the Forum said in a press release. The members include Balika Maden, Yashashwi KC and Manish Koirala.

NFSJ's past President and advisor Rajendra Khanal, as the chief of election committee, congratulated the newly-elected working committee and expressed confidence that the Forum will gain new heights in the coming days.

A programme committee has been formed under the convenorship of NFSJ founding president Chhatra Karki. It is said, the programme committee will, in coordination with the Forum's executive committee, execute programmes promoting science writing and journalism.

NFSJ has become a member of World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ) as its 54th Member Association.

The NFSJ was formally registered in Kathmandu, Nepal on January 27, 2014. From the start, its mission was to give momentum to science journalism in Nepal and to support capacity building of journalists covering science-technology, health, environment, agriculture, astronomy and other related fields.
