KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 6

President Ramchandra Paudel's scheduled visit to France, Italy, and Germany, which was planned for this Wednesday, has been postponed.

The President's press advisor, Kiran Pokharel, announced this decision through a press release today. The reason for the postponement is the belief that it would not be appropriate to leave the country in the wake of a natural disaster, such as the devastating earthquake that recently occurred.

It has been stated that President Paudel will visit the earthquake-hit region tomorrow to assess the situation of the affected people.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter in Jajarkot, struck the district in Karnali province on the night of November 3, resulting in significant loss of life and property in Jajarkot, Rukum Paschim, and other areas.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers had approved the President's visit to the three European countries on November 2.

Pokharel, the President's press advisor, mentioned that the President suspended the visit after concluding that it would not be appropriate to leave the country in the aftermath of the natural disaster, despite the visit's significance for Nepal and its people.

The President was originally scheduled to depart for Paris, France to participate in the 'One Polar Planet Summit' and the 'Paris Pact for People and Planet' conferences, held under the Peace Forum Programme from November 9 to 11. He had received an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron for this important event.
