KMC limits target group to 'only those residing within the metropolis'
KATHMANDU, JUNE 13
The Vero Cell Covid-19 vaccination drive is scheduled to resume at select hospitals in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, on Monday.
Earlier, the metropolis had rolled-out the vaccination drive from June 8 in all 32 wards which was later suspended after only three days of commencement, on June 11.
The metropolis issuing notice on June 11 had said that the stock of Vero Cell vaccines that were provided to the district by the Department of Health Services had all been used.
As per a fresh statement released by KMC on Sunday, all the persons aged 60 and 61 who were scheduled to receive their first dose on June 11 and 12 but missed due to the campaign suspension, will now be able to get the first jab. Four hospitals -- Bir Hospital, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Birendra Military Hospital and Civil Services Hospital -- have been designated to provide the services on June 14 and 15.
Additionally, health workers, medical students, interns, nursing and paramedics in OJT who are involved in direct treatment of the Covid-19 patients, too can receive the jab.
Furthermore, those that had received the first dose of Vero Cell during the previously conducted drive can also get inoculated.
However, the KMC has limited the target vaccine recipient group to 'only those residing within the metropolis', this time.
All those willing to receive the jab have been requested to be present at the designated hospitals, at the slated dates, within the 10 am - 4 pm slot.
