KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 27

Cadres of various political parties have continued with protests against tabling and possible ratification of Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact in the House of Representatives.

The demonstrations are ongoing today amid ruling coalition partners' last leg of preparations to endorse the deal from parliament.

Meanwhile, security measures have been beefed up in various 'sensitive' areas of the capital including in and around Federal Parliament building, Singhadurbar and Baluwatar.

Coalition partners Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre, CPN-Unified Socialist and Janata Samajwadi Party reached an agreement today after weeks of inter-party and intra-party deliberations to ratify the US-grant from parliament.

It is to be noted that alliance parties other than Nepali Congress were opposed to ratification of the MCC, while their sister-wings have been staging protests on the streets against the same.
