KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 24

The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, presented his Letter of Credence to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari in Kathmandu today.

On the occasion, the Apostolic Nuncio conveyed the warmest greetings of His Holiness Pope Francis, who wished happiness and well-being, as well as peace, stability and prosperity to the Nepali people. Moreover, the Apostolic Nuncio expressed the wishes of the Holy See that the existing mutual relations may continue to foster through a shared commitment to peace, dialogue and development within the framework of international norms.

Indeed, with the current global pandemic, the Holy See is convinced that it is by working together that nations can find answers to the political, social and economic challenges faced by the whole human community, said a press release issued by Apostolic Nunciature in Nepal.

In the words of Pope Francis, the Apostolic Nuncio also stressed the contribution of religions 'to build fraternity and defend justice in society', assuring that, within the plurality of religions in Nepal, the Catholic Church wished to offer its legitimate and respectful contribution to the life of the nation, particularly in education, healthcare and social outreach.
