RAUTAHAT, JANUARY 28

Construction of a concrete bridge over the Lal Bakaiya River between Rautahat's Gaur and Rajpur municipalities has gained momentum of late.

Anak-Pappu-Roshan JV had won the contract for construction of the 202 by 11 metre concrete bridge about three years ago with the target of finishing the project by the end of the current fiscal. "Though we began construction work after a year's delay due to blacklisting of Pappu Construction, work on the project was later affected by the pandemic," said a representative of Anak JV.

Lack of bridge over the river between Gaur's Sapagadha and Rajpur's Bairiya villages had forced the locals to make a long detour through Fatuwa to reach Gaur. "Lack of bridge between the villages had created problem for us all these years, but construction work has picked pace of late, which has relieved us to some extent," said a local activist Wakar Ali.

According to Anak JV's site engineer Sunil Chaudhary, the project is unlikely to finish within the set deadline. "As it took time to set up the site office and manage construction materials, the same had delayed work on the project," said Chaudhary.
