DHANGADI, JUNE 2

A detainee from Sukhad Area Police Office, Kailali, fled with his handcuffs yesterday.

Police said Krishna Pandeya, 24, of Sadepani, Ward No 2 of Ghodaghodi escaped while he was being taken to the police office from a hospital.

Police said Prakash Shah and Pandeya of Sadepani were arrested over a drug case and put in detention at Sukhad Area Police Office five days ago. "We were taking them to the police office after having their health checked from Ghodaghodi Hospital when Pandeya managed to escape," DSP Bed Joshi of Kailali District Police Office said.

"We had taken them to the hospital for a medical test after they complained of pain in the stomach. Both were handcuffed with the same cuffs and taken to the police office, but it turned out that Pandeya managed to slip off the cuff from Prakash's hand and bolted away," said the police officer.
