A family of five at Badimalika Municipality in Bajura have been left in the lurch due to lack of treatment expenses and food crunch.
Basmati Thapa's family has faced the problems arising from lack of food crisis and treatment expenses. Basmati's husband Dhan Bahadur is being treated for anaemia at the district hospital. Her younger son Shankar has foot injury. He has been staying at home even though he needs prompt treatment.
Basmati said the district hospital had referred Shankar for treatment as soon as possible, but he was compelled to stay at home due to lack of treatment expenses. She added that there was no way to provide treatment to her son. Basmati is visually impaired and walks with the help of her son.
The family faced acute food crisis after Basmati's husband and son fell ill. She said it was very difficult to manage food for the family.
Dhan Bahadur is tossing and turning on the hospital bed due to lack of blood. The blood in his body is only 5.1-point haemoglobin. Acute anaemia was seen due to lack of blood in the body. He needs A+ blood.
Dr Jasmita Balampaki of the hospital donated onepint blood to Dhan Bahadur after the impoverished family could not manage blood for treatment. She said she had offered blood to Dhan Bahadur as there was no other option. Basmati requested everyone, even the organisations to provide blood, but in vain.
She said she had requested the individuals and organisations for blood, but no one was ready to offer blood to Dhan Bahadur. He needs more than four pints blood.
