KATHMANDU, MAY 8
The judicial custody of 23 individuals, including Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra and medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, has been extended by five days to facilitate further investigation into charges of crimes against the state and organized crime.
According to Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, the Kathmandu District Court granted the extension on Tuesday to allow continued investigation into the case.
In addition to charges related to crimes against the state and organized crime, authorities have also launched a separate investigation into potential criminal offenses.
The arrests stem from a violent protest held in Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28, which resulted in two deaths and dozens of injuries.
Several government and private properties were vandalized or set ablaze during the pro-monarchist demonstration.
